Frequently Asked Questions at Sweet Libertine…
FAQ’s About Sweet Libertine Mineral Cosmetics:
1. Who is Sweet Libertine?
Sweet Libertine is comprised of Sarah and Justin. Along with Sarah and Justin there is also Socrates and Plato, their two black cats. You can read more here. Newly on board is Jenn, Sarah’s personal assistant, and Callie who helps with formulations and production.
Our products contain no parabens, talc, or bismuth oxychloride, which can irritate skin. I have severe sensitive skin, so I make sure I can wear my own product.
2. Why did you start making makeup?
I had a really rough winter one year – I was unemployed and carless. I had some extra cash to pamper myself, so I bought an assortment of makeup at Walgreens – and spent a lot of cash on it. When I got home and tried it out, the colors were dull and application was horrible. In response to this, I decided to figure out how makeup was made and make it myself – but to offer a good quality product at a lower price.
3. If I have a problem or question, where do I go?
If you have a problem or an issue please don’t hesitate to email us at info@sweetlibertine.com. Please note that we cannot take care of customer service issues over Twitter, Facebook, or other social networking sites.
4. Who is Amanda Palmer and why do you like her so much?
Amanda Palmer is a rock star. I like her cause she is awesome.
5. Is this like a Mary Kay or Avon type thing?
Nope, Sweet Libertine is an entity of its own.
6. I emailed you and haven’t heard back. What’s with that?
There are three main people that keep Sweet Libertine running on a daily basis – myself, my husband Justin, and Jenn. 99% of the time there is at least one of us to watch the email inbox, but some days we can’t be as close to a computer as we would like. If you have an email that has gone unanswered more than one business day please feel free to email us and tell us to get our asses in gear (and I honestly mean that.)
6. This isn’t like other makeup companies…
Nope. Welcome to our little corner of the internet.
7. Do you guys test on animals?
Absolutely not.

Shipping FAQs:
1. How do you mail my order?
We ship USPS First Class with an option for Priority Shipping. You can learn more over here.
2. What is the Sweet Libertine Wire?
The Sweet Libertine Wire lets you know the current status of orders, new product information, and important news updates. If you are on Twitter you can follow us over here, and we also have a SweetLibWire Facebook page. If you’re not on either website you can bookmark the Twitter page to have it on hand.
3. Have you shipped my order yet?
If you prescribe to the theory that all time actually exists simultaneously, and we just move through it in a linear fashion, then yes, we have already shipped it. We have always shipped it, and we will always continue to ship it.
Or, seriously: We try to get orders out the door as fast as humanly possible. We grew immensely in 2010 and our turn around times lagged. We have been working towards getting our turn around times better, and we have hired extra hands to help with that. During a sale, though, the time can vary wildly. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you are wondering the status of your order, and please email us if you need your order ASAP and we will rush it. You can reach us at shipping@sweetlibertine.com. You can also find general shipping updates over at the @SweetLibWire twitter.
International Folks:
We ship international orders every Friday, and when an international order ships we post the last 6 digits of the Paypal Transaction ID on the Sweet Libertine Wire.

Makeup application and tips:
1. What do you use to apply the makeup? Do those sponge applicators work?
Definitely use makeup brushes. I explain more over here.
2. What is your favorite liquid concealer?
I love inexpensive cosmetics, but concealer is definitely a case of “you get what you pay for.” My favorite concealer is MAC’s Select Moisturecover. The effectiveness of liquid concealer also depends on your skin, so don’t get discouraged if the first concealer you try doesn’t work well. It’s always helpful to go into MAC or Sephora and get one-on-one help on finding a product that will work for you.
3. How do you use the powder under-eye concealer?
The paraben-free under eye concealer can be used in numerous ways. It neutralizes under-eye circles and discolorations on the skin. Some people just apply it directly to the under-eye area, but I personally apply liquid concealer under the eye and then use the powdered under-eye concealer as a setting powder. This gives it an extra boost. I also do this for blemishes on my skin.
4. How do I hide a zit/blemish/acne?
As tempting as it may be, never apply concealer to an open pimple or sore on your face. This can slow down healing time and cause scarring. But for other blemishes, I apply a little bit of liquid concealer and gently rub it into the skin. I then dust some powdered concealer on the liquid concealer to set it. I repeat this as necessary until the blemish is gone – remember, it’s better to build up light layers than one thick, heavy layer.
5. Can I sleep with this makeup on?
I have slept in mineral makeup plenty of times with no issue – mineral makeup actually works with the skin and not against it, like many types of makeup out there. But when it comes down to it, I highly recommend removing any makeup before bed.
