I'm not entirely certain where I should post a greeting, but I just wanted to give a quick wave and say hello, I'm new, and all that. *frantic wave*

To be fair, I am one of those folks who hardly *ever* wears makeup. Early on, when girls start experimenting with the stuff, I discovered that was easily 15 extra minutes I could be sleeping in during the day. The "natural look" persisted through college and into adulthood mostly because I simply couldn't stand the way the stuff felt on my face. And normally, any eye makeup I would apply to the upper lids would, in roughly three hours time, be smeared around the lower lids making me look like a prize fighter. Make-up got stuck in the same category as dresses and pantyhose- Fun to play with, looks great on, *can't freaking wait* to take it off.
But then, I'm an artist, and color attracts me like a moth to an open flame. So when a friend of mine posted a link to SL on her facebook page, and I ventured over to see all these delightful little pots of vibrant color, looking all the world like my paint collection? Well.... 23 colors down, and I'm still collecting. And wearing! |

There are, in fact, mineral foundations out there. It's pretty much like loose powder, and it feels far far better on the skin than that creamy stuff. I have some, but personally I don't wear it that often. As to whether you can skip it or not, well I usually do- I guess it largely depends on your natural skin tone? I think the primary purpose of the foundation is just to even out a splotchy skin tone (lord knows I could be wrong here, I hardly qualify as someone knowledgeable in the ways of makeup). If you've got an even enough skin tone as it is, I don't see any reason to have to fight with the stuff. I know some people like to use a cream eyeshadow as a sort of foundation to deepen and intensify the colors of the mineral eye shadows, but I've never personally tried it.

Hi Fury! Actually, after posting in at least two threads here on sweetlibertine about mineral foundation, I got myself ready to go outside and went to Sephora. I bought some Bare Minerals foundation and mineral veil, and got a cheap brush at Walmart (Cover Girl is doing brushes, surprise surprise). I would agree - if you've got an even skin tone, it's not really necessary. When my skin is actually clear (which is occasionally), then it's not terribly necessary for me, although even with that creamy base stuff I never needed blush. The Bare Minerals tones down my red cheeks (I could use blush if I wanted with it, but that's okay) and helps minimize my blemishes (next SL shipment to me will totally have some concealer).
