When Sweet Libertine was born, we were a small company. Well, actually, it was just me. I started out small, on Etsy, and did that while going to school.
We have grown, and grown by leaps and bounds. It’s not just me anymore – there’s two of us here, we have an actual web store, and wonderful fans and customers.
When Sweet Libertine started, our turn around time was outstanding. Usually 48-72 hours. But then we grew. We grew, and we grew very quickly. Our product became in high demand, and we’re a boutique business that makes products by hand in order to give you the highest, freshest quality cosmetics. We tried to keep up with increasing demand while trying to keep our turn around times as quick as possible.
Unfortunately, that couldn’t happen without losing our sanity. And when something is wrong, you have to fix it. While I am not thrilled to make this decision, it will ensure that Sweet Libertine will grow with a renewed foundation.
Our new turn around times are going to be adjusted to be 3 to 4 weeks, and during sales this could increase to 6 weeks. While this may seem like a backwards step for some, it will allow me the room to drastically improve our business. I want to work on fixing things – faster customer service and email response, building backstock, eliminating backorders altogether, a faster turn around time, and the ability to have sales without long-pending orders. In other words, everything that I wanted Sweet Libertine to be.
We pride ourselves in offering a product that is affordable, high quality, and fun. Sweet Libertine has a great community built by its own fans, and Sweet Libertine is my baby. Like any parent, I want to see my baby grow in the healthiest, most robust way possible, but unfortunately our baby went through its Terrible Twos. To give us the room we need, we will be expanding our promised turn around times. I will be updating as things progress, and if you need a more precise estimate for order fulfillment please don’t hesitate to email us.

I don’t think it’s a secret that Sweet Libertine is run by an outspoken and stubborn woman who is pretty damned hard headed.
I also don’t think it’s a secret that women’s rights are going through a very turbulent time. To honor those who have worked so hard to clear this path, and opened up possibilities that allowed me to open Sweet Libertine, every day in March we will be honoring a woman, man (yes, men), or event that has impacted the history of women. I was an activist for many years, so this topic is very near and dear to my heart. It was exhausting, emotionally draining – but I feel that I gave very little compared to others.
Because the struggle for women’s rights has taken a lot of hope, love, and perseverance, today’s eyeshadow is Dream Big. It’s 50% off, and that will change when I make tomorrow’s post! I hope you enjoy what I have in store for you, and that you learn something as we wander down the road of history and see what made us who we are today.

Yay! This year’s XXX line has been a lot of fun. Don’t forget – it’s only available until February 29th!
This FOTD uses Der Weinerschnitzel, Beaver Shack, Menage a Trois, and Poison.
First I applied Beaver Shack over the entire lid. It’s a sparkly and fun green.
Then I took a 50/50 mix of der Weinerschnitzel and Poison and blended it into my crease. After that I put Aardvark on my browbone, and used Menage a Trois in between my browbone and lid to create a more subtle transition.
I applied Black wet as an eyeliner for my upper lid, and then I used an olive green eyeliner from Ulta for my bottom waterline. I took a thin brush and picked up some Beaver Shack (heh) and applied it lightly along my lower lid line. This gave it a really neat green/gold pop. I finished everything off with Maybelline Stiletto mascara.

Arriving Thursday, February 16th – Sweet Libertine Mineral Cosmetic’s XXX Limited Edition Eyeshadow Line for 2012! No pearl-clutchers allowed – these names will be reveling in all of their XXX glory. This will be a limited edition line of mineral eyeshadows, maybe a glitter or two, plus a limited edition Champagne Glitter lip gloss. Hope to see you there – and make sure to leave all decorum at home!
(Please note: These eyeshadows will NOT be posted directly onto the Sweet Libertine website and will have their own section with a special warning. While we want to have our bawdy fun, we want to prevent anyone under 18 from seeing it!)
I’m bringing you an “experimental” FOTD. I wanted to see how a dark blue – Oasis – would work as an accent color. Needless to say, I’m pretty happy with how it worked out.
This FOTD uses Talian Gold (from the Steampunk line), Oasis, and Golden Years.
First I applied Talian Gold over the entire eyelid. As usual, I put Aardvark on my browbone, and I applied Golden Years between Talian Gold and Aardvark to help blend the two together.
Then, to accent and give things some depth, I applied a little bit of Oasis in the crease and blended it in. I didn’t put much on, just enough to give things some depth. I blended it in pretty well.
After that I did the typical eye stuff – I applied Black wet for eyeliner, then used Wet n Wild’s Mega Eyes Creme Eyeliner for my lower waterline, and Maybelline Stiletto for mascara.
