Don’t Boycott Black Friday – Support Indie Businesses!

We now have a Facebook Event page so you can invite your friends and spread the word!

I’ve heard lots of chatter about boycotting Black Friday. I can totally understand where this comes from – the commercialization of the holidays and “Christmas Creep” is getting a bit out of hand.

But don’t boycott Black Friday. Instead, log on. Support small businesses. Hit Etsy, Artfire, or other websites that allow small businesses to develop and grow. I’ve had a few people ask – yep, Sweet Libertine is a small business, it’s run by my husband (Justin) and me.

To help out, here’s a list of small businesses that I buy from and suggestions from customers. If you want to add links (and if you have a small business please send a link!) please email sarah@sweetlibertine.com with the subject line SMALL BUSINESS or comment here.

Since others are sending in links, please note that Sweet Libertine cannot personally endorse every business listed.

My friend (who just moved across the country *shakey fist*) just opened an Etsy store following her success at a local art fair. She sells her lovely bone carvings over at Photosynthete.

My local soap maker. Discovered the company at a farmers market and have yet to find a soap that I don’t enjoy. I’m especially fond of the lavender oatmeal and the selah salt bar.
