FOTD – 4/8/10 – Basic Eyes – Eden Park and Filigree, and brow bone highlights explained!

Eden Park

I love today’s face of the day – it’s with one of our newer colors, Eden Park. You’ll be seeing a lot more FOTD with just single colors, except for the brow highlight – I think it would be good to showcase each color individually to show how the shadow looks and wears.  It’s the beginning of the “Basic Eyes” FOTD series.

First off, let me explain why I call it a *single* color FOTD when I’m actually using two eyeshadow colors. When applying eyeshadow, it’s important to highlight below the eyebrow – this brightens the eyes and prevents the raccoon-eyes look.  You can watch this video to show where to apply your brow highlight.  You don’t have to use a specific color for a brow highlight – you want it to help make a smoother transition between your applied eyeshadow and your eyebrow. I tend to use Filigree – it brightens my brow bone, and I blend it so it’s nearly invisible so it’s good for a day-time look. Other popular colors for browbone highlights are Glacier, Striptease, Electric Mudslide , Moon Dust – you get the idea. Sometimes the browbone highlight can take your look from “meh” to “awesome!”.

Eden Park is an olive green with a yellow/golden tone.

I used Eden Park on the lid and blended into the crease, and Filigree used as a brow bone highlight.

Closed Eye

This is similar to Feral, a discontinued eyeshadow, but it’s a bit more yellow. I was afraid that it would look too yellow on me, but it ended up turning out just right. This is going to be my go-to olive green!

  1. Very pretty! Peach Petals is also a great browbone highlighter for people with more of a golden tone to their skin.

I love these when I got my colors I did one eye wet one eye dry and that was it, just so I could see what the colors look like by themself.

    Sarah,
The color is gorgeous. I’d do really serious under eye concealer with it if I used it on a job because on some skin tones, it may make them look tired.
